Mullumbimby, referred to as Mullum by the locals, is the town that serves as the gateway to many attractions in the hinterland and is situated only 6km from the sea, making it a perfect spot for surfers. It houses the local council for the Byron Shire area and is also known for its country tucker, boutique beers in the town's three pubs as well as great wine. It is also bicycle friendly due to its flat surfaces and the fact that it is designed in a grid pattern with parks around the edges.
